12 vehicles involved in illegal mining seized in Pulwama, Shopian & Kulgam; 3 drivers arrested

Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining activities, Police carried out multiple enforcement actions in Pulwama and Shopian, resulting in the seizure of several vehicles involved in unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals.

During naka checking at Hawal Crossing, a tipper bearing registration No. JK13A-5547 was intercepted while transporting illegally extracted sand. The vehicle was seized on the spot. In this connection, FIR No. 71/2026 of Police Station Rajpora and investigation has been taken up. In another operation, a naka was laid at Newa Market by Police Post Newa. During checking, two dumpers bearing registration Nos. JK04G-0557 and JK01AH-1068 were intercepted. Both vehicles were found loaded with illegally extracted clay, and the drivers failed to produce valid documents or permission. Accordingly, both vehicles were seized on the spot. In this regard, FIR No. 71/2026 stands registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation has been takek up, Police said today.

Further intensifying the drive, during night domination one dumper bearing registration No. JK05M-1165 and one tipper bearing registration No. JK22-3767 were intercepted and found involved in illegal mining activities. Both vehicles were seized on the spot. In this connection, FIR No. 51/2026 at Police Station Litter and investigation has been initiated.

In Shopian, Police have seized two dumpers and two tippers involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from Hef Rambiara near Ahchan Bridge area of the district. During routine patrolling, a police team from Police Post Turkwangam intercepted and seized two dumpers and two tippers engaged in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without royalty documents. In this regard, FIR No. 66/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been set into motion, Police stated.

Meanwhile, Continuing its sustained crackdown against illegal mining activities, Kulgam Police intercepted and seized three vehicles and arrested three persons (Drivers) involved in the transportation of illegally extracted minerals, Police said.

Police party of police station Kulgam led by SHO police station Kulgam intercepted and seized three vehicles (02 Tractors & 01 Dumper) involved in the transportation of illegally extracted minerals. Upon inspection, the said vehicles were found to be carrying illegally extracted minerals in violation of relevant laws. All three vehicles were seized and the drivers were arrested on the spot.

In this regard, cases vide FIR No. 65 & 68/2026 under relevant sections of law stands registered at police station Kulgam and investigation has been taken up to ascertain further involvement and identify other persons engaged in such unlawful activities in both cases.

J&K Police reiterates its commitment to curb illegal mining and appeals to the general public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information regarding such activities.
