In line with Prime Minister of India’s visionary Viksit Bharat initiative, Goonj-2024acts as a catalyst for India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation. The two-day mega youth festival on March 19 and 20, which is organized by the University of Jammu, is poised to give wings to the inner voice and creativity of the youth.
Announcing this during a Curtain Raiser Press Conference, here today, the Vice Chancellor University of Jammu, Prof Umesh Rai said the mega fest aims to bring together students from the Jammu region, providing them a platform to express their inner voice through a range of planned creative activities by various departments of the university, including display of cultural and literary activities, sportsmanship, revolutionary Research and Development, etc. This mirrors the university’s unwavering dedication towards inclusive growth, he said.
The festival will feature a dedicated space for students, faculty, and industry experts to present their innovative projects, fostering an environment of knowledge exchange and technological advancements. The festival aims to be a melting pot of institutional best practices, creating a platform for universities to share successful methodologies and strategies. By facilitating this exchange, Goonj-2024 seeks to promote collaboration among institutions within the region, fostering an atmosphere of continuous improvement and excellence in education. The emphasis on best practices underscores the commitment to shaping a forward-thinking and dynamic educational community.
Earlier, Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chairperson of the Higher Education Council, Govt of JK UT and Chancellor of Kumara Mangalam University, emphasized that Goonj-2024 is an initiative and a step towards the making of knowledge economy, a cornerstone of Viksit Bharat, that stands as a key driver for India’s development. This will help in empowering and nurturing the creative spirit of the youth. This event will benefit the society at large as the citizens will come to know regarding the initiatives being taken by the institutions of higher education and collaborate with them towards Viksit Bharat.
Students from different Universities of Jammu region, including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), The Cluster University of Jammu and Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University and affiliated colleges, divided into different zones, will exhibit their athletic prowess in diverse sports and showcase their exemplary practices in competitive categories. Besides, the highlight of the event will be the documentary and exhibition on “College on Wheels – J&K Gyanodaya Express.”
Prominent from the University of Jammu who were present during the event were Prof Anju Bhasin, Dean Academic Affairs; Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean of Research Studies at Jammu University; Prof Naresh Padha, Convenor HEC; Prof. Pankaj Srivastava, Director Distance and Online Education; Meena Sharma, Dean Planning and Development, Prof. Monika Chadha, Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee; Prof. Sarika Manhas, Co-Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee; and Dr. Garima Gupta, Head of Journalism and Mass Communication Department.
