2 houses gutted in Tia Temisgam village of Ladakh, Army controls fire from spreading

Late last night, a fire incident was reported in Tia Temisgam village near Nurla at approximately 09:30 PM. Responding promptly, units from the Leh Garisson and the nearest General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) unit were dispatched to the scene.

Under the vigilant supervision of the formation, the fire was successfully extinguished, and all involved parties concluded their efforts by 02:00 AM. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Nearly 60 personnel and six Water Bowsers (WBs) were deployed to assist in containing the fire. The collaborative efforts proved effective in preventing further damage to the community.

Upon a fresh morning assessment, it was revealed that three houses were affected, with two being completely burnt and one partially damaged. In response to the immediate needs of the affected villagers, the Indian Army is providing tentage to ensure temporary shelter.

The coordinated and swift response from the military units highlights their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of resident communities. The authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and provide necessary assistance to those affected.
