2-member committee set up to enquire demolition of houses of tribal community

The Jammu and Kashmir Government today constituted a two-member fact-finding committee to enquire into alleged violations of the Forest Rights Act, 2006, in connection with yesterday’s demolition of houses belonging to tribal families in the Raika Bandi area of Sidhra in Jammu district.

Mohammad Mumtaz Ali, director, tribal affairs and Muzamil Hassan Chaudhary, assistant director, tribal affairs, are members of the committee.

The committee has been asked to submit the report within 7 days.
