213 roads, 11 medical centers and 25 schools now under JMC

213 PWD roads upto width of 5.50 meters, 11 medical sub centres along with staff, 25 primary schools alongwith one Chief Education Officer are now under the administrative control of Jammu Municipal Corporation.

This was stated during a press conference wherein Deputy Mayor, Purnima Sharma and Commissioner, JMC Avny Lavasa (IAS) apprised the media about the developments. These units have come under the control of JMC after 74th Amendment in the UT of J&K.   

Deputy Mayor further stated it was long pending demand before the Government to implement the 74th Amendment in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir as per other states of India.

Deputy Mayor thanked the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Secretary for implementing the 74th Amendment and added that there is need to implement 74th Amendment in full so that all the departments can come under the administrative control of Jammu Municipal Corporation for strengthening the JMC.

Suraj Prakash Padha, Chairman, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Standing Committee, Baldev Singh Billawaria, Chairman, Health & Sanitation Standing Committee and Jeet Kumar, Chairman, Social Justice Standing Committee were also present in the press conference.
