5 eateries sealed for violating protocol in Leh, 21 violators penalised

Intensifying it’s drive against Covid-19 protocols violation, the District Administration Leh today sealed five eateries and restaurants around Skalzangling and Skara for violating Covid-19 SOPs and protocols.

The Special Enforcement Squads (SESs) and the Motor Vehicles Department under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner/ Chairman, District Disaster Management Authority, Leh, conducted a random check in Leh town area and found the eateries and restaurants violating Covid-19 protocols. 

The SES, including Tehsildar Leh, Ataullah Khan and SHO Leh, Mohammad Yusuf then sealed the eateries and restaurants.Similarly, the SESs and Motor Vehicles Department collected a fine of Rs 10,500 from Covid-19 protocol violators in the district.

Meanwhile Dy Chairman/Executive Councillor for CA&PDS, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk; Executive Councillor for Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Tashi Namgyal Yazkee; Executive Councillor for Minority, Ghulam Mehdi Ashoor; Executive Councillor for Agriculture, Stanzin Chosphel and a surveillance team of Food and Supply department with the ECs visited Leh and its adjacent areas to take stock of the essential supplies in the market. The officials inspected the quality of food products with their expiry dates along with the proper implementation of rate lists and COVID protocols (SOPs).

It was found that many of the shops were having outdated products in their stock which include, Biscuits, Gajak, Bread Rusks, Canned Veg/Non-Veg items, and raw Macaronis. Some of the shopkeepers were found selling Cereals and Pulses without proper rate charts and some even without proper licenses. Outdated products were seized from the shopkeepers and were instructed by the concerned ECs to implement proper SOPs laid down by the District Administration as well.
