Jammu boy cracks IAS exam, secures 146th rank

A Jammu boy, Suchiter Sharma at the age of just 22, has cracked IAS exam and scored 146th All India Rank, the result of which was declared by Union Public Service Commission today.

He hails from the border village Salehar of tehsil Bishnah in Jammu district and is son of Madan Lal Sharma and Ritu Sharma, both teachers as his inspiration. He did his graduation from GGM Science College, Jammu with main subjects- Botany, Zoology and Geology, securing 86 % marks during 2020 and appeared in the preliminary exams of IAS and achieved this feat in first attempt.

Sharma said that role of his parents and teachers in his growth and development are the most important factor for his success that he has achieved. He further said that if the person studies with full dedication then his dreams will come true.

Sharma further said that they have motivated me throughout my journey and this was his first attempt. He further informed that on October 4, 2020 he appeared in his prelim exam and added, “Given my rank, I would get IRS because I would not get IPS given my short height though I was inclined towards IPS” ,Sharma said.

He described his maternal cousin Pryati Sharma as another inspiration to aim for excellence in academic pursuits. He said that she (an IAS officer of 2014 batch) cracked the Civil Services exam in 2015. Suchiter said that whenever he will get any opportunity he will aspire to serve people with full dedication, honesty and passion.

Manpreet Singh Sudan of Jammu who secured 506th rank also received many messages and wishes from different areas.
