Major transfers of IAS, JKAS officers in J&K imminent?

Before the Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir, many IAS and JKAS officers were transferred from their posts. However it has been learnt that many other transfers can take place after the new government assumed office.

It has been reliably learnt that the relations of Omar Abdullah led J&K government and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha are fine due to which the LG also cleared the resolution passed by the cabinet.

There are many Deputy Commissioners and other senior officials in the UT administration which the new government wants to replace. However with the technicalities of J&K being government as a UT, it is not possible for the Chief Minister to directly transfer senior officials.

Omar Abdullah is set to visit New Delhi in coming days where he is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even as the campaign of BJP in Jammu was against the NC during the elections, it has been learnt that Delhi doesn’t want to spoil its relations with Omar who was elected as the CM after his party won with a heavy margin.

It is also expected that Omar would want some of his loyal officials to take prominent positions in the administration which is expected to be okayed by the LG. Insiders have informed that Omar might also talk to the PM over the issue of transfers of IAS and JKAS officials for smooth working of administration.

The next few days will be interesting to watch as the relations between the new government of J&K and LG administration will evolve further.
