Udhampur: The Indian Army celebrated ‘Vijay Diwas’ with traditional enthusiasm at the Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur today.
A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Dhruva War Memorial to honor the brave soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander Northern Command, led the ceremony by laying a wreath at the memorial. He also interacted with veterans, whose legacy of courage and dedication continues to inspire.
It’s worth noting that on this day in 1971, Pakistani troops surrendered to the Indian Army in Dhaka. This marked the largest military surrender since World War II. The historic victory signifies the Indian Army’s selfless fight for the liberation of the people of erstwhile East Pakistan, leading to the creation of an independent Bangladesh.
