Omar Abdullah Cancels Jammu programmes to monitor Kashmir’s severe cold spell

Srinagar :- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced the cancellation of his scheduled programmes in Jammu to remain in Srinagar for the next week, responding to the severe cold conditions affecting the Kashmir valley. The decision comes as the region grapples with difficulties in water and electricity supply due to harsh weather conditions.

Making the announcement on X ( Twitter), Abdullah emphasized his commitment to personally oversee the functioning of critical departments, particularly the Power department, during this challenging period. He expressed regret over any inconvenience caused to event organizers in Jammu due to the cancellations, stating that he would make up for the affected programmes in the future.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is currently returning from Jaisalmer, confirmed that he would arrive in Srinagar tomorrow morning to begin monitoring the situation. His decision underscores the severity of the cold spell and its impact on essential services in the Kashmir valley, prioritizing immediate administrative attention to address the residents’ concerns during this harsh weather period.
