Srinagar : Counter Intelligence Kashmir has arrested five people here today, for allegedly smuggling SIM cards to terrorists lodged in different jails. The accused are from various places, including Dawoodpora Anantnag, Qamarwari Srinagar, Nathpora, Kaloosa, Bandipora, and Kursu Padshahibagh, Srinagar. They were taken into custody for questioning about their alleged involvement in a criminal conspiracy with anti-national elements.
Police Spokesperson stated that, the case is FIR No. 06/2023 in Police Station CI-K under multiple sections of IPC and UA (P) Act. During probe it was seen that these elements were reportedly gathering and smuggling in SIM cards with terrorists and also with those linked with narco-terrorism activities as well. A report stated, the police officers conducted earlier search operations within Central Jail premises due to which unlawful usage of sim cards for conducting terror-related acts had been caught. The government is currently probing into the SIM cards issued by Point of Sale vendors and representatives of the various Telecom Service Providers of this country.
