In a significant move to reclaim encroached government land and reinforce the crackdown on drug peddlers, the Jammu Development Authority (JDA) and Jammu Police today carried out a demolition operation against an illegally constructed residential structure at Rajeev Nagar, Tehsil Bahu, Jammu Police said on Monday.
The operation was supervised by Vice Chairman JDA Rupesh Kumar, Director Land Management, Garbi Rashid Dar and Tehsildar JDA, Zone C/D, Ms. Megha Gupta along with the team of JDA officials in presence of senior police officers including SP South, SDPO South, and SHOs/ICPPs of Sub-Division East, who ensured law and order during the demolition drive.
The demolished property belonged to Reena @ Roopa W/o Bobby, an alleged notorious drug peddler from Rajeev Nagar. It is important to highlight that Reena has a criminal background and multiple criminal cases have been registered against her,Police claimed. These cases include:
• FIR No. 220/2017, U/S 8/20 NDPS Act, PS Bahu Fort
• FIR No. 67/2019, U/S 8/20 NDPS Act, PS Bahu Fort
• FIR No. 199/2018, U/S 341/323 RPC, PS Bahu Fort
• FIR No. 128/2016, U/S 8/20 NDPS Act, PS Gangyal
She was also detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in 2019 for her continued involvement in the drug trade and threat to public order.
Earlier, on 31st July 2024, Jammu Police had successfully obtained confirmation of property attachment orders under the NDPS Act and SAFEMA against Reena and three other notorious drug peddlers from the Rajeev Nagar and Ragoora areas.
The property was identified as being acquired through the proceeds of narcotic drug trafficking.
This operation marks a continued and coordinated effort by Jammu Police and JDA to deal with drug peddlers and disrupt their infrastructure. The strict action has been widely appreciated by the public and has sent a clear and strong message to drug traffickers and white-collar narco-criminals.
Jammu Police reaffirms its unwavering commitment to uproot the drug menace, and in close coordination with civil administration/ JDA, is taking firm steps to ensure that criminal elements not only face prosecution but also lose their illegally acquired assets, Police said.
