Minor’s privacy violated: Kashmir child panel warns action as viral Physics Wallah clip sparks outrage

Taking serious view of a viral Physics Wallah video from Anantnag in Kashmir that has sparked outrage after a minor’s visuals spread online, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) Anantnag citing privacy violation has directed the social media users to delete the clip or face imprisonment.

The CWC received a complaint from the minor, whose identity has been withheld, stating that the gesture shown in the video was misinterpreted and misused across various social media platforms, violating their right to privacy and amounting to abuse.

The minor reportedly faced distress, immoral comments, and threats following the circulation.

After examining the issue, the CWC observed that the unauthorized dissemination of the video constitutes an offense under the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015, and the associated rules of 2016, in addition to other applicable laws. The CWC warned that any contravention could lead to imprisonment under the law.

The CWC has strictly directed all social media users to delete the content immediately and stop any further circulation. Failure to comply will be treated as a legal offense.
