CAT warns Jammu University Registrar of salary stoppage over non-compliance

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Jammu Bench, has expressed displeasure over repeated delays by the University of Jammu in filing its reply in a case filed by Seema Nargotra against the university.

The Tribunal noted that despite multiple directions, including orders dated March 20, May 15, and July 22, 2025, the university failed to submit its reply. The court observed that the Registrar of the University of Jammu had not been appearing before the Tribunal and had allegedly made misleading statements through counsel.

Taking a serious view of the continued non-compliance, the Bench ordered the Registrar to file the reply within two days. The Tribunal further warned that if the directive is not followed, the Registrar will have to appear personally before the court and his salary will be stopped immediately.

The case, originally transferred from the Jammu and Kashmir High Court in September 2024, will now be taken up for further consideration on November 8, 2025.
