In a strong and sustained crackdown against illegal mining, Jammu Police intensified enforcement measures across Jammu District during the year 2025 to curb the unlawful exploitation of natural resources and deter organised mining violations.
Special drives against illegal mining were conducted from 01.01.2025 to 31.12.2025 across all Police Stations and Police Posts of Jammu District. As a result of these operations, 631 vehicles involved in illegal mining were seized out of which 572 vehicles were released after completion of statutory formalities. Fines amounting to ₹99,85,327/- were imposed on violators during the year.
Police Station Satwari recorded the highest enforcement action with 202 vehicles seized for illegal mining followed by PS Akhnoor (73 vehicles) and PS Domana (65 vehicles), reflecting focused and intelligence-driven policing in vulnerable mining zones.
In addition to seizures and penalties, Jammu Police has maintained strict scrutiny of repeat offenders. Vehicles found repeatedly involved in illegal mining have been placed under close watch and further legal action is being initiated as per law to prevent recurrence of such offences.
SSP Jammu Joginder Singh, stated that illegal mining leads to environmental degradation, loss to public revenue, and damage to public infrastructure. He reaffirmed that Jammu Police will continue its zero-tolerance policy against illegal mining and take stringent action against violators without exception.
