Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police in Ganderbal have seized 6 vehicles for illegal extraction of minerals in the jurisdiction of Police Stations Safapora, Lar and Gund.
These vehicles were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. Accordingly, the vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law Police said in a statement today.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities in the district and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources. Strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices, Police added.
