In continuation of its sustained drive against illegal liquor trade, District Police Kishtwar today apprehended two bootleggers and seized a significant quantity of illicit liquor during routine patrolling and naka checking duties.
Acting on specific information regarding illegal sale of liquor in the area near DC Office Kishtwar, a team led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar, Insp. Firdous Ahmed, assisted by PSI Danish, while conducting routine patrolling in the area of Kuleed ,waser etc conducted a raid on a suspected shop. During the search, 101 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered, and one accused was arrested on the spot. The accused has been identified as Nitish Kumar S/o Ganga Ram, aged 26 years, R/o Sambal, Tehsil Mughal Maidan, District Kishtwar.
In another naka, acting on reliable information, a naka was established by IC PP Padyarna, PSI Rohit Manhas. During checking of vehicles and pedestrians, the naka party intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK17B-0347. Upon search, 13 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered, and the accused was arrested on the spot. He has been identified as Kirtan Singh S/o Ravi Singh, R/o Tayalan, Tehsil Nagseni, District Kishtwar.
The total quantity of illicit liquor seized in both operations is approximately 114 bottles (around 40 litres).
In this connection, FIR No. 67/2026 and 68/2026 under relevant sections of the Excise Act have been registered at Police Station Kishtwar, and further investigation is underway.
Both the raid and naka were conducted under the supervision of Addl. SP Kishtwar Pardeep Singh and Dy. SP Headquarters Dr. Ishan Gupta.
While sharing the details, SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh stated that District Police Kishtwar remains committed to taking strict action against bootlegging, smuggling, and all forms of illegal trade. He warned individuals involved in such unlawful activities to desist from such practices, failing which strict legal action will be taken.
