Crackdown in Baramulla: Police enforce anti-smoking norms near school

Police in Baramulla, in coordination with Revenue authorities and the Drug Inspector, conducted enforcement drives across the district to ensure compliance with legal norms.

A joint drive was carried out within 100 yards of Government Higher Secondary School Chandoosa, during which shops were inspected and individuals found smoking in the prohibited area were fined under COTPA. Several violators were penalized, and a fine of ₹1300/- was collected on the spot.

Additionally, medical and pharmacy shops were inspected to verify valid licenses, stock and sale records, installation of CCTV cameras, and compliance with norms related to controlled substances.

Shopkeepers were directed to strictly adhere to all regulations and warned that any violation will invite strict legal action.  Police reiterates its commitment to public safety and urges citizens to cooperate in maintaining law and order.
