In view of the heavy rainfall occurring in Jammu & Kashmir and the consequent disruption to road traffic (NH-44), the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has decided to operate a special unreserved train—Train Nos. 04689/04690—between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Banihal on April 9 and April 10, for the convenience of passengers. This step has been taken to provide relief to passengers and tourists who have been stranded due to disruptions caused by road closures.
Regarding the train’s schedule: Train No. 04689 (from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to Banihal) will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 10:10 AM and arrive at Banihal at 12:20 PM.
Conversely, on its return journey, the unreserved special train (No. 04690) will depart from Banihal at 2:00 PM and arrive at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 5:00 PM.
En route, the train will have stoppages at Sangaldan and Reasi railway stations in both directions.
Commenting on the operation of this special train, Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM) of Jammu, stated: “Due to inclement weather and heavy rainfall in the region, road services have been severely affected. The safety and convenience of passengers remain our utmost priority. In light of this, we have decided to run this special train to ensure connectivity between Katra and Banihal. This service will provide a safe travel alternative for thousands of tourists and local residents. We hope that this initiative will significantly facilitate passengers in reaching their respective destinations.”
Passengers are requested to consult the official railway website, dial 139, or check the NTES platform for detailed information regarding the train.
