GMC Jammu nurses submit representation to LG over alleged misbehaviour by MLA
The nursing staff of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu has sent a representation to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha, seeking intervention over an alleged incident of abusive and threatening behaviour by Jammu West MLA Arvind Gupta towards healthcare workers at the hospital.
In the representation addressed to the Lieutenant Governor, the nursing staff referred to an incident that allegedly took place on May 14, 2026, and was reportedly captured in a social media video. The staff alleged that abusive, threatening and disrespectful language was used against healthcare personnel on duty despite the patient receiving timely and appropriate medical treatment.
Expressing strong condemnation over the incident, the nursing staff stated that such behaviour has deeply hurt and demoralised doctors and nurses who continue to work under immense pressure while serving patients.
The representation further stated that incidents of alleged verbal abuse and intimidation not only affect the dignity and morale of healthcare professionals but also create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity within medical institutions.
Seeking immediate administrative intervention, the staff urged the authorities to ensure the safety, dignity and respect of healthcare workers and to take appropriate measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future. The nursing staff also expressed hope that justice would prevail and that the honour and protection of the medical fraternity would be upheld
