3 Haryana tourists killed, 2 injured in road accident near Jammu
Three residents of Haryana were killed and two others injured after the car they were travelling in collided head-on with a bus near Nagrota on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in the outskirts of Jammu city during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday.
According to police, the accident took place near Jagti-Karli in the Nagrota area when a car bearing registration number HR29BB-2127, travelling towards Jammu, collided with a bus (JK02AJ-9933) that was heading towards Udhampur.
The five friends were returning from Ladakh and the accident happened past-midnight.
Five persons travelling in the car at the time of the accident sustained critical injuries and were immediately rushed to the Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu, for treatment.
Police said two of the occupants were declared brought dead on arrival at the hospital, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Sikander Saifi, Shakti and Mohit Verma, all residents of Ballabgarh, Haryana. The injured have been identified as Deepak Verma and Kuldeep Sharma.
Two injured persons are undergoing treatment at GMC Jammu, officials said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has expressed deep grief over the tragic road accident near Nagrota in Jammu district, in which three persons from Haryana lost their lives and two others sustained injuries.
In a message of condolence, the Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. He also wished a speedy recovery to those injured in the accident.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure the best possible medical treatment and care for the injured persons.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah prayed for strength and courage to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss.
