Rs 75 lakh fine collected from ticketless train travelers in Jammu division
To curb ticketless/irregular travel and to increase railway revenue, Jammu Division conducted an intensive ticket checking drive in the month of June 2026. Positive results have emerged from this campaign. These drives are conducted every month under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Uchit Singhal, with new plans.
As a result, during the period from 01 June to 30 June, a total of 12,314 cases were detected in the campaign run by the checking staff of Jammu Division, from which revenue of more than approximately ₹75.43 lakh was collected as penalty. This revenue has been received in the form of fines collected from ticketless passengers, irregular tickets, unbooked luggage, and other violations of the Railway Act.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu, Uchit Singhal stated, _”The purpose of ticket checking is not only to collect fines, but to motivate passengers to travel with a valid ticket. Ticketless travel causes loss of railway revenue and also hinders the convenience of other passengers. The checking staff of Jammu Division is deployed day and night on trains and at stations to ensure that all passengers travel with dignity with a valid ticket.”_
He further said that such campaigns will continue in the future as well. The Railway Administration appeals to all passengers not to travel without a ticket, to purchase a ticket before travelling, and to avoid inconvenience and penalty. Tickets are easily available through the UTS App, ATVM machines, and online mediums.
