Dy CM Choudhary, MP Mian Altaf have narrow escape from landslide, shooting stones in Rajouri, Poonch
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary and Naational Conference (NC) MP Mian Altaf had narrow escape as landslides and shooting stones hit the roads while they were separately touring the flood hit Rajouri and Poonch districts on Wednesday.
NC activists said that the cavalcade of Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary had a narrow escape after it came under shooting stones at Chingus on the Rajouri highway while he was on way to Rajouri from Jammu to take stock of flood losses.
Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmad reportedly escaped unhurt after a landslide struck his vehicle on the Jammu–Poonch Highway while he was visiting areas affected by recent heavy rainfall, sources said.
The landslide blocked the highway, prompting authorities to launch clearance operations.
CM Omar Abdullah chaired another high-level review meeting on flood response during which he ordered speedy restoration of power, roads and essential services.
