Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that a high-powered task force on examination reforms under the leadership of Shri Nandan Nilekani has been constituted.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister shared: “HIGH POWERED TASK FORCE on examination reforms under the leadership of Shri Nandan Nilekani constituted.

Nilekani is one of India’s best-known technology leaders and public policy innovators. He is co-founder of IT company Infosys.

He is known as the architect of Aadhaar and from 2009 to 2014, he headed the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and led the creation of Aadhaar, the world’s largest biometric digital identity programme.

Nilekani has written books including Imagining India and frequently advises governments and institutions on technology, governance, and digital transformation.

The government has likely chosen Nilekani because of his experience in designing and implementing large-scale, technology-driven public systems. His expertise in digital identity, secure platforms, and governance is considered relevant for modernising examination systems, improving transparency, reducing malpractice, and strengthening the use of technology in conducting exams.

The task force announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to recommend reforms to make public examinations more secure, transparent, and reliable, particularly in the wake of recent examination paper leak controversies.
