Congress leader seeks investigation into threats to PM Package employees working in Kashmir
JKPCC Kissan Congress Chairman Bharat Priye today expressed serious concern over reports of threats and intimidation targeting displaced Kashmiri Hindu employees serving in the Valley under the Prime Minister’s Package, saying that such incidents are unacceptable and must not be allowed to undermine the confidence and sense of security of employees engaged in the rehabilitation process.
Bharat Priye said that the employees appointed under the Prime Minister’s Package have been serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir despite difficult circumstances and that their safety, dignity and security must remain a priority for the administration and all concerned agencies. He stressed that any attempt to intimidate or threaten them could create fear and uncertainty among employees and adversely affect the broader process of rehabilitation and their return to normal professional life in the Valley.
He urged the Jammu and Kashmir Police, security agencies and civil administration to take the matter seriously and conduct a thorough investigation into every such incident. He called for the identification and questioning of all persons involved in issuing threats or attempting to intimidate the employees, so that those responsible are brought to justice in accordance with law.
“No individual or group should be allowed to threaten or intimidate government employees on the basis of their identity or place of origin. Such acts cannot be permitted to create an atmosphere of fear and insecurity,” Bharat Priye said.
He emphasized that merely responding to individual incidents would not be sufficient and that the concerned agencies must take effective preventive measures to ensure that such incidents are not repeated. He called for strengthened security arrangements wherever required and regular assessment of the security concerns being faced by displaced employees working in different parts of the Valley.
Bharat Priye further said that the rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Hindu families is not merely an administrative exercise but an important process aimed at restoring confidence, dignity and a sense of belonging among those who were forced to leave their homes under extremely difficult circumstances.He appealed to the administration to maintain continuous communication with the affected employees, promptly address their grievances and ensure that no employee feels isolated or vulnerable while discharging official duties.
The JKPCC Kissan Congress Chairman also urged political parties, civil society organisations and community representatives to refrain from politicising security-related incidents and instead work collectively to promote peace, communal harmony and an environment where every citizen can live and work without fear.
Bharat Priye said that strict and timely action against those responsible for threats would send a clear message that intimidation has no place in a democratic and peaceful society. He expressed hope that the concerned agencies would investigate the matter with seriousness, identify all culprits and take appropriate legal action so that no one dares to repeat such acts in future.
He reiterated that the safety and dignity of Kashmiri Hindu employees serving in the Valley must be protected and that every genuine effort should be made to strengthen their confidence in the administration and the rehabilitation process.
