IndiGo aircraft hits VDGS pole at Srinagar airport

An IndiGo aircraft was this morning damaged after it hit a Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS) pole during parking at the Srinagar airport. No passengers or crew members were injured in the incident.

Flight 6E 225 (VT-NOG) was being positioned at Bay No. 6 at around 9.02 am when it collided with a VDGS pole during the parking process, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said in a statement.

The flight had taken off from Navi Mumbai (NMI) Terminal T1 at 6:49 am.

The airport authority said the details and circumstances surrounding the incident would be examined by the appropriate authorities in accordance with prescribed procedures.

“The exact cause will be ascertained after completion of the inquiry, and no conclusion regarding the cause is being drawn at this stage,” the statement said.

The Srinagar airport wrote on X “An incident involving an IndiGo flight occurred during parking at Srinagar Airport earlier today. All passengers and crew are safe, and no injuries have been reported”.

“The matter is being examined by the appropriate authorities. Airport operations remain normal, with flights continuing to land and depart smoothly. Passengers are requested to remain assured and follow updates through official channels”.
