Ladakh traffic police uniform changed

The Ladakh Traffic Police has donned a new look, with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena approving the change of its uniform from the earlier sky-blue to a crisp white one.

The change has been approved with the objective of improving visibility and giving the Traffic Police personnel a fresh and distinctive appearance, while ensuring a uniform and smart look across the Traffic Police in the Union Territory.

The new white uniform will provide Traffic Police personnel with a neat, tidy and professional appearance and help create a more consistent visual identity for the force, while performing their duties on roads across Ladakh.

The decision to officially change the uniform was prompted by observations that the former attire of the traffic personnel closely resembled the uniforms of several local schools, often causing the personnel to blend into the crowds and thus reducing their visibility on the streets.

White uniforms are worn by Traffic Police personnel in Delhi and several other States, and the new uniform for Ladakh is in keeping with this widely followed practice, thereby enhancing the visibility of the traffic personnel.

The Lieutenant Governor said that the change in uniform was aimed at providing the Traffic Police with a fresh and professional identity and enhancing their overall appearance while on duty. He expressed the hope that the new uniform would further strengthen the sense of discipline and pride among Traffic Police personnel as they discharge their important responsibility of regulating traffic and assisting road users.
