J&K extends old pension scheme for posts advertised before 24 December 2009

The J&K Government has decided to extend the old pension scheme to employees appointed against posts notified prior to 24 December 2009, said CM Omar Abdullah in a post on X.

Omar announced; “Following the decision of the Council of Ministers, the Government today issued orders extending coverage under the Old Pension Scheme to thousands of employees appointed against posts advertised prior to the notification of the New Pension Scheme in Jammu & Kashmir”.

Highlights:

●Eligibility: Covers employees appointed against posts advertised/notified prior to 24.12.2009 and joining service under NPS.
●One-Time Option: Eligible employees can switch from the New Pension Scheme (NPS) to the Old Pension Scheme (OPS)
●Timeline: The option to switch must be exercised through the proper channel within three (3) months from the issuance of the order.
●Finality: Option once exercised shall be final. Employees not opting within the stipulated timeframe will continue under NPS.
