Helicopter service for civilians resumed in Ladakh
The Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh, through the Civil Aviation Department, has recommenced subsidised single-engine helicopter services across Ladakh with effect from September 29, 2026.
The services are being operated through M/s Pawan Hans Limited under a Wet Lease Agreement supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.
The resumption of helicopter services aims to improve intra-UT air connectivity, particularly to remote and far-flung areas, facilitate the movement of residents and tourists, and support emergency medical requirements. The flights are operated by experienced, instrument-rated licensed crew, with requisite airfield security and passenger screening arrangements.
The subsidised fares per passenger for the notified routes are as follows:

The District Administrations have been directed to provide the requisite logistical support, ensure operational readiness of designated helipads, and nominate Liaison/Nodal Officers for effective coordination of the services.
The Deputy Commissioners have also been requested to ensure wide publicity of the helicopter services through their official social media handles and other print media platforms.
