A comprehensive and intensive checking drive was conducted by the Jammu Division of Northern Railway against elements travelling without tickets and on irregular tickets. Under the leadership and guidelines of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, the Jammu Division achieved remarkable success in this special drive that continued throughout the month of October 2026, registering an increase in railway revenue.

An intensive and surprise ticket checking drive was conducted from 1 October to 31 October by the ticket checking staff at major railway stations of Jammu Division such as Jammu Tawi, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, Shaheed Captain Tushar Mahajan and Pathankot Cantt, as well as in various trains and platforms passing through the Division.

During this one-month period, a total of 9,564 cases of travelling without tickets and irregular ticket holders were detected. From all these cases, in the form of fines and fare, the Railways earned approximately Rs. 81,38,495.

Highlighting the success and objective of the ticket checking drive, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal said, “Jammu Division is fully committed to providing a safe, comfortable and high-quality travel experience to its esteemed passengers. This strict action against elements travelling without tickets and on irregular tickets will continue in the future as well. The main objective of this drive is not only to increase the revenue of the Railways, but also to protect the rights of all honest passengers who travel under the rules by purchasing valid tickets.”

Jammu Division once again appeals to all rail users and passengers to always enter trains or platforms only with a valid and correct-category ticket. Travelling without a ticket is a punishable offence under the law.

The Divisional administration has urged passengers to always follow railway rules as responsible citizens and cooperate with the railway administration so that their journey remains pleasant, safe and hassle-free.
