Sainik Colony property fraud: Dr Wakhloo duped, Crime Branch chargesheets couple
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Crime Branch Jammu has filed a chargesheet against Pieary Lal Koul and his wife Nirmala Koul, residents of Sainik Colony, Jammu in connection with an alleged property fraud involving Rs.3.55 crore.
The case was registered following a complaint by Dr. Ajay Wakhloo, Director of Ankur Maitrika Hospital, who alleged that the accused agreed to sell him a residential plot with a constructed house in the Sainik Colony area for Rs.3.55 crore which was already mortgaged with a Bank. An agreement to sell was executed on February 21, 2025, Crime Branch said.
Investigation led by Dy.SP Vishal Sharma, established that the accused allegedly concealed the fact that the property was already mortgaged with J&K Bank against outstanding loan liabilities. The complainant reportedly transferred approximately Rs.3.55 crore through bank transactions, cheques and cash to facilitate the deal and clear the mortgage. After collecting oral, documentary and financial evidence, the EOW filed the chargesheet before the competent court for judicial determination under Sections 318 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Crime Branch added.
Meanwhile, SSP Crime Branch EOW Jammu has urged the public to remain cautious against property-related financial frauds and report such incidents to the Crime Branch Jammu, via email at sspcrimejmu@jkpolice.gov.in or by calling 0191-2578901.
