Higher Education Department transfers “influential” teachers after decades

In an unprecedented move, the Higher Education Department has transferred many “influential” teaching faculty members, who were posted at city colleges for many decades. Even when the UT went through changes in governments and governors, still these teaching faculty members remained posted in their places which is in total violation of the transfer policy.

The transfer orders released by the Higher Education Department caused more than two hundred teaching faculty members including Assistant Professors and Associate Professors to transfer within two days.

Sources informed that many of these transferred teaching faculty members had been posted in city colleges for many decades such as at Women Gandhi Nagar College, GGM Science College, Parade College, MAM College, Commerce College beside others. Many of these faculty members have been transferred to peripheral colleges for the first time in their career. Many allege that successive governments didn’t transfer them violating the norms as they had close links with the administration.

Sources further said that these transfer orders have left these influential faculty members surprised. Sources are of the opinion that there are heavy chances that these teachers might try to approach the administration through their links and modify these orders for their personal benefit.

Sources said that they are thankful to the present administration for taking this much-needed step. A majority of these college faculty members have access to the power corridors and as a result, they had been able to manage their postings in the city colleges which is in total violation of the transfer policy of the government but it is for the first time when their influence has not worked. These faculty members with links in the administration have started to figure about available options so that they can approach various officials and get their orders modified.

Many fear that there are high chances that the department will shortly issue modification orders in favour of these highly influential college faculty members. College faculty members congratulated the LG administration for taking such an important step. They also appealed the administration to avoid modification of these orders.
