When governments are consistently trying to adopt digitalization, Cluster University Srinagar has invited applications for academic arrangements through offline mode only.
People are criticizing this move of the university as a large number of Jammu based aspirants would not be able to fill application forms for the posts in colleges based in Kashmir.
The Cluster University of Srinagar issued an advertisement notice 4 February 2021 inviting applications for contractual lecturers on academic arrangement basis for constituent colleges of Cluster University of Srinagar for session 2021. Even though application forms could be downloaded from University website, but hard copies of the application forms, challan based payments and required testimonials are needed to be submitted to the office of Registrar Cluster University Office, Gogi Bagh Srinagar till February 16.
An unhappy aspirant said that if a Jammuite wants to apply for contractual jobs in Srinagar, then he/she would have to visit Srinagar to submit the forms only. For visiting Srinagar, he/she would have to spend a total sum from Rs 8000 to Rs 10000 to fill the form, as he/she would have to stay in some hotel and pay fare while travelling. Many aspirants from Jammu who don’t have enough means to travel to Srinagar wouldn’t be able to fill these forms. This all extra charge could have been saved if the university had allowed online submission of forms.
Aspirants complained that female applicants from Jammu will have to face more problems in travelling and staying in Srinagar. The applicants raised questions that if online applications are accepted across the country then why isn’t the CLUS doing the same?
Aspirants said that the online mode of submission saves energy, money and many other resources. People are still not able to comprehend why offline mode has been decided by CLUS. The aspirants requested the Lieutenant Governor administration to take cognizance of the matter and issue directions to the university authorities.
