In continuing its fight against Covid-19 more aggressively, Jammu Municipal Corporation installed one more sanitizing tunnel at Govt Hospital Gandhi Nagar which has been declared as COVID-19 hospital by Health department.
Apart from sanitizing the incoming and outgoing persons from head to toe, the sanitizing tunnel has been equipped with features of efficient and closed design to avoid wastage, compact & portable design, advance mist spray system, extra mobile mist spray which can be used for sanitizing equipment and instrument including wheel chairs stretcher, LED lights for night usage.
Chander Mohan, Mayor while speaking on the occasion stated that it was very difficult to establish the disinfect tunnel due to lockdown, as the required material was not easily available but due to dedication and determined efforts of staff of JMC the said disinfectant tunnel has been established at Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar.
Mayor JMC further stated that such kinds of decontamination and sanitizing tunnels shall also be established at the entry points of all hospitals, quarantine centers, red zones and wherever required to minimize the chances of spread of corona.
The Chairman Health and Sanitation Beldev Singh Boloria further appealed to the doctors, paramedical staff and visitors of the GMC to use the sanitizing tunnel so that aim of preventing the spread of corona virus is achieved.
The step has been taken by JMC to ensure safety and protection of all the doctor and paramedical staff who are working in tough conditions prevailing due to ongoing Covid–19 pandemic.
Besides, a medical camp was organized at Valmiki Colony Gandhi Nagar. The camp was organized in collaboration with the team of doctors deputed by Dr Mohan Singh, Directorate of Indian System of Medicines. The team examined the residents of Valmiki Colony and provided the medicines to the needy in the area free of cost.
