A day after LG holds power scenario meeting, crisis hits Jammu again

Even as Lt Governor Manoj Sinha met senior officials of Power Development Department on July 7 to discuss the the power scenario in J&K, Jammu faced unprecedented power cuts after mild rain.

This has become a routine where even winds become a cause of power shutdown in different parts of Jammu during this scorching summer.

While the LG Manoj Sinha directed the senior officials on real time monitoring of power consumption, deployment of competent manpower, establishing a comprehensive plan for high power consumption towns, there seemed to be little coordination on ground as most of the areas in Jammu faced power cuts after a spell of rain early on Friday.

The LG also asked the officials for preparing History Cards of transformers with all technical details like damages, repairs, replacement etc to ensure effective utilization of inventory and stores.

While the LG was concerned about winter preparedness for Kashmir division that will start from July 20 nothing concrete was directed during the meeting to ensure that there were no power cuts in Jammu division at least during this extreme hot weather.
