In a major political development in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, former Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer Shah Faesal is likely to become advisor to Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.

Faesal had quit the government job in January 2019 and rolled out his own political party Jammu Kashmir People’s Movement that was expected to take a major share of votes in valley. However after the abrogation of Article 370 and bifurcation of state into two UTs in August 2019– Faesal was placed under house arrest.

Report in News 18 suggested that Shah Faesal is likely to become advisor to Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah Faesal later resigned as the chief of his party that gave rumour mill a fodder that he may again join the government as his resignation was not allegedly accepted. Faesal also took a U-turn from being a staunch critic of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to his “well wisher”.

Shah Faesal is a 2010 batch IAS officer who earlier quit services to join politics.
