The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, inaugurated a two-day Badminton Tournament today at the JK Police Badminton Hall in Jammu. The tournament, which features doubles matches for boys and girls under the age of 15, is organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police under the Civic Action Programme.
The event is themed “Say No to Drugs & Yes to Beautiful Life,” aiming to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle among the youth. The tournament will run from June 8th to June 9th, 2024, providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents and engage in positive recreational activities.
In his inaugural address, ADGP Jammu Anand Jain highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, teamwork, and a healthy lifestyle. He emphasized the J&K Police’s commitment to nurturing young talent and steering them away from the dangers of drug abuse. “This tournament is a step towards encouraging our youth to embrace sports and the beautiful life it brings. It is our mission to provide avenues that keep our young generation active, engaged, and free from harmful substances,” said ADGP Jain.
The tournament has attracted enthusiastic participation from young players across the region, with several matches scheduled over the two days. The event promises to be a showcase of budding talent and a testament to the community’s collective efforts in promoting a drug-free society.
Total 94 participants (72 boys & 22 girls) registered for the tournament from all districts of the Jammu Zone among children of Police officers.
The J&K Police’s Civic Action Programme continues to play a pivotal role in building strong community relations and fostering a supportive environment for youth development. This badminton tournament is one of many initiatives aimed at encouraging positive lifestyle choices and strengthening the bond between the police force and the community.
