After Kashmir, now repackaged and violative of food safety standards meat has been seized by the Police in Jammu.
The meat consignment was found at the bus stand in Jammu.
According to a statement issued today by the Police “Jammu Police conducted a routine checking drive as part of its continued efforts to enforce food safety norms and protect public health. During the inspection, non-vegetarian food items were found being transported in a vehicle lacking mandatory insulation, constituting a serious violation of prescribed food safety standards”.
“Taking immediate cognizance of the lapse, the Food Safety Designated Officer was called to the spot for on-site inspection and initiation of legal action as per established procedures”.
“Dy. Commissioner Food Safety Madan Magotra, along with Jammu Police team led by SHO Bus Stand Inderpal Singh promptly reached the location and carried out necessary proceedings in close coordination with police authorities”, Police said.
“Jammu Police reaffirms its firm commitment to ensuring public health, strict enforcement of food safety regulations, and zero tolerance towards any practices that may compromise the safety and well-being of citizens”, the statement added.
It may be recalled that the Kashmir valley experienced a major food safety crisis in mid-2025 due to large seizures of over 12,000 kg of rotten, expired, and repackaged meat. This triggered public health fears, impacting the restaurant industry severely, and leading to criminal charges against vendors, with ongoing efforts to restore trust and enforce stricter standards.
