In the wake of Taliban taking over Afghanistan, there are signs that Pakistan ISI may try to use the more aggressive strategy in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per reports, around 200 terrorists are active in J&K and there have been a slight increase in the terror activities in past few weeks in J&K. Pakistan based terror outfits like Jaish-e-Muhammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba are already trying to increase infiltration into the valley.
Indian security agencies have become cautious and increased the surveillance along the Pakistan border. J&K police have been on high alert as well and are tracking down overground workers who could give shelters to foreign terrorists. Since January this year, around 500 overground workers have been arrested, reportedly. A security officer said that they are keeping an eye on more suspected ones, some of whom try to show themselves as nationalists and they will crack down upon them in the coming days.
As per reports, infiltration has increased in Jammu region as well as along the border in north Kashmir since July. Terror launchpads and infiltration routes are mainly active in Bandipore, Kupwara and Baramulla, whereas in South Kashmir terrorist activity is mainly concentrated.
A new concern among the security establishment in J&K is the engagement of locals by terrorist outfits for small acts like grenade throwing, rather than their being given longer role in their terror activities.
