Agniveer Lalit Kumar of the 7 JAT Regiment was killed and two soldiers seriously injured today in a mine explosion near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Krishna Ghati (KG) sector of the Poonch district.
A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), Naib Subedar Hari Ram and Havildar Gajendra Singh were injured in the blast while the soldiers were patrolling the forward area. The injured have been airlifted to Udhampur for treatment in the Army Hospital.
The area was mined to prevent infiltration of terrorists from the Pakistan occupied Jammu & Kashmir (PoJK).
A defence spokesman said that the mishap occurred at 12.15 pm when the M16 anti-personal mine blasted near the Victor post near the LoC.
“The GOC White Knight Corps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to Agniveer Lalit Kumar of 7 JAT Regiment, who made the supreme sacrifice, while on an area domination patrol in general area of Krishna Ghati Brigade on 25 July 2025, following a mine blast. We stand with the bereaved family in this hour of grief, ” the Corps said in a post on X.
