Ahead of winter, adequate stock of essentials available in Jammu division

Ahead of winter season, adequate stock of essential commodities have been made available in the Udhampur, Kathua, Reasi, and Kishtwar districts of the Jammu region. The essential commodities, additional transformers, and medicines have been stocked by the administration.

Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Ashok Kumar Sharma said that the areas covered in snow such as Marwah, Dacchan, Padder, and Warwan, the stocking up of essential commodities have been completed.

Further Sharma informed that enough preparation for the road clearance system in these snow bound areas have been made and a nodal officer of the rank of executive engineer has also been appointed to examine the situation. He further informed that additional transformers in some selected snowbound areas have been stocked.

Sharma said that the response time in urban areas was 24 hours and extremely rural areas would be 48 hours with the improvement in weather conditions and snowfall.

Further he informed that proper management and arrangement of medicines and various other facilities have also been made keeping in mind the weather conditions.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Muhammed Sayeed Khan informed that enough preparations of stock have been made at Latti, Basantgarh, Dudu in Udhampur district and preparedness is at its final stage given the winter. He further informed that Jal Shakti Department and other concerned departments had also stocked essential commodities.

Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Yadav said that in the snowfall areas such as Bani and Billawar’s Machedi belt and Lohai Malhar winter stocking is underway and the exercise will be completed by November 30. Yadav said that the transformers of different capacities were being stocked in difficult areas.
