AIIMS Vijaypur granted registration for eye banking, corneal transplant

In a significant step towards strengthening Organ and Tissue Donation Servives, AIIMS Vijaypur, Jammu has been granted the Certificate of Registration for Eye Banking Services, Corneal Transplant, and Eye/Cornea Retrieval Facilities under the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994.

The registration has been issued after a battery of thorough inspections carried out by the team of Competent Authority and is will be valid for five years from the date of issue. The approval recognizes AIIMS Vijaypur’s compliance with the prescribed infrastructure, facilities, and staffing requirements for providing eye banking and corneal transplant services.

The registration is expected to enhance access to corneal transplant services in the region, strengthen the eye donation programme, and help restore vision for patients suffering from corneal blindness .
