An Army soldier was today killed in a fierce gunfight with terrorists in the Kishtwar district of Jammu division.
The soldier was grievously injured during the encounter and later succumbed to his injuries.
The White Knight Corps of the Indian Army wrote on X; “One of our Bravehearts sustained grievous injuries in the exchange of fire and has succumbed despite best medical efforts”.
The encounter broke out in the morning in the Singhpura locality of Chatroo in Kishtwar when the security forces cordoned the area following inputs about the presence of a group of around five terrorists.
Contact was established with terrorists in the morning and additional troops were inducted and operations initiated to neutralise the terrorists. Reinforcements of CRPF, J&K Police and Army also reached the spot.
