In another major seizure of fake paneer, the Samba Police today seized approximately 12 quintals adulterated paneer from two vehicles in the jurisdiction of Police Post Rajpura falling under Police Station Ghagwal.
This indicates that smuggling of fake cheese into J&K was on the rise. Huge quantities of fake cheese was recently seized from a tourist bus.
Samba Police said that acting on specific information, a team of Police Post Rajpura laid a naka near PP Rajpura and intercepted Swift Car bearing registration No. PBO6AL-2806 Swift car & Tata Innova Car bearing registration No. HR39B-0400. During checking, approximately 8 quintals of paneer was recovered from Innova car whereas approximately 4 quintals of paneer was recovered from the Swift car. The vehicles were moving from Punjab to Jammu side via border road. Police has seized both the vehicles on the spot.
Accordingly, the matter was taken up with the Food Safety Department which has conducted on spot sampling and found that the recovered paneer was adulterated and unfit for human consumption.
