BJP under attack after its leaders ignore killing of Jammu native in Kashmir

BJP is receiving strong resentment after Aakash Mehra, 22-year-old son of the owner of Krishna Dhabha lost his life in a terror attack. He battled with his injuries continuously for eleven days in a government hospital at Srinagar. None of the senior BJP leaders cared enough to pay a visit and enquire about his health while the Jammu native was struggling with his injuries.

Sources said that while BJP issued a handout for cheap publicity, its leaders didn’t concern themselves with Aakash who had received severe bullet injuries as he was shot by terrorists closely. They alleged that the “appeasement policy” of party is forcing it to virtually abandon non-locals who have been doing business in Kashmir Valley. People are complaining that the unfortunate case of Aakash Mehta is an example that BJP is taking the people of Jammu for granted.

There are also allegations that family members of the victim were kept in the dark by the doctors and they were constantly assured that his conditions were improving. Reports said that the victim’s family members were planning to shift Aakash outside J&K for treatment but doctors constant assurance restricted them from taking such action.

On 17 February, terrorists shot Aakash Mehra, 22, outside Krishana Dhaba in the highly fortified security zone of Srinagar city. He took his last breath on early Sunday morning. Aakash was getting medical treatment in Shri Maharaja Hari Singh hospital in Srinagar where he was being assisted by a ventilator. He suffered bullet injuries in his chest.

Surprisingly, all Kashmir centric political parties, even PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, have expressed their condemnation of this brutal killing but except Kavinder Gupta, every other major BJP leader has failed to do so.
