CDPO officials allegedly charge money to distribute uniform among Anganwadi workers

There are allegations that Child Development Project Office (CDPO) Kalakote officials have taken Rs 50 from every Anganwadi worker to further distribute uniforms provided by the department.

Sources informed that CDPO officials Kalakote demanded Rs 50 from each worker. There are 213 workers under CDPO office Kalakote. When this whole issue was brought to attention of higher officials then all the workers were asked to give an undertaking that officials didn’t charge any money while providing uniform to them.

CDPO Kalakote has also issued a format for workers to complete work. They issued a format in two languages which was to be filled by concerned Aaganwadi Supervisions and returned back to CDPO office.

In an early case, the CPDO office Kalakote has tried to make distance with elected Sarpanches and Panches. Sources alleged that the officials of CDPO Kalakote want to control purchase of food grains and other items so that they can earn some extra money through this. Anganwadi Workers are soft targets of CDPO officials. Officials receive a fixed amount when resources are sent to Anganwadi Workers for running their centres.

Sources demanded that this entire process should be managed by concerned Sarpanch or Ward members. They appealed Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri Rajesh Kumar Shaban to take note of this matter and take steps to prevent misappropriation of funds.

CDPO Kalakote Sharda Devi has claimed that allegations are false and they didn’t charge any money from Aaganwari workers for providing them uniforms. She added that they also didn’t take any undertaking from the Aaganwari workers.

District Programme Officer (DPO) of ICDS Rajouri Kartar Singh said that they are investigating this matter. He has received a complaint regarding this issue and he has planned to soon personally visit CDPO Office Kalakote and organise a meeting of Panch, Sarpanch and Anganwadi Workers. He also assured that if they found someone guilty then they will be punished according to rules.
