CEC LAHDC-K Jaffer Akhoon asks NHIDCL to avoid unnecessary damage to  public property on Kargil-Zanskar highway

Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC Kargil Dr. Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon today chaired a meeting to discuss land compensation and other  issues of Kargil-Zanskar Highway,  NH – 301 today at the council hall secretariat.    

The meeting was attended by Executive Councilor Tourism Kacho Mohammad Feroz, Executive Councilor Aga  Syed Mujtaba Mosavi, Executive Councilor RDD Phunsok Tashi, Deputy Commissioner and CEO LAHDC Kargil Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, Councilor Baroo, Trespone,GM pore, Saliskot, Lankarchey, Taisuru, and parkachick,  SDM sankoo, Tehsildar Sankoo, Taisuru,  various concerned departments, representatives of NHIDCL besides other concerned officials.          

The concerned officials from NHIDCL gave a detailed presentation about work progress achieved and compensation disbursed among the beneficiaries in various packages from zone 1 to 8 at kargil Zanskar National Highway NH 301.

They further informed that compensation for properties including damages of trees, land, houses private properties has been done in various packages and is under disbursing phase, further in  Zanskar sub-division 90 per cent of the compensation money has been  disbursed. Meanwhile in other packages the disbursing process is undergoing simultenuously.   

During the meeting public representatives raised  and discussed various issues with NHIDCL.

The CEC directed SDM sankoo and Tehsildar sankoo, Taisuru and Zanskar to pace up the process of land compensation and completion of other related works by March 2024 in order to achieve hassle free completion of the National Highway

CEC Dr. Jaffer directed NHIDCL to personally monitor and supervise the works regularly redress the issues of the public on ground at earliest possibility, also directed to work in close coordination with the local engineers for early completion of the works..

The CEC directed DC kargil and DFO to have a meeting immediately and revise the rates of Poplar tress so that people can get genuine compensation of their trees.  

Dr Jaffer directed NHIDCL to avoid unnecessary damage to  public property and advised to construct burst wall at required places  only. He also directed to repair necessary kuls which are required for the irrigation purposes adding that public assets should not get affected during the irrigation session. 

Regarding the CSR works of NHIDCL, the  CEC  said after thorough discussion on the proposed proposals and meeting with DC Kargil, approved proposals will be submitted to NHIDCL for CSR works.
