Kishtwar :-General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command, Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar, visited Kishtwar today to review the prevailing security situation in the district.
The visit of the Northern Army Commander comes amid intensified counter-terror operations in the region, especially in the remote forest areas of Kishtwar district. In the past few days, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and two Village Defence Guards (VDGs) were killed in separate encounters with terrorists in the district.
During his visit, Lt Gen Kumar interacted with the troops deployed in the area and commended them for their high morale and operational preparedness. He also took stock of the ongoing counter-terror operations and emphasized the need for maintaining constant vigil to thwart any attempts by terrorists to disrupt peace in the region.
