Congress beats BJP in Ladakh council polls; Saffron party left red faced

In a victory that came as a ray of hope for the Congress, the party was able to beat Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh by-elections for Timisgam constituency.

While the Congress was able to bag 861 votes, BJP got 588. 18 NOTA votes were cast. The counting for the Timisgam constituency started early today and the results were declared by 11 am.

The victory is seen as the anger of locals against BJP for not introducing sixth schedule.
