Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, Jammu and Kashmir’s Lal chowk has been illuminated. But reports stated Chief spokesperson of J&K Congress Ravinder Sharma said that lighting the Lal chowk will not reduce the distance between J&K and Delhi.
August 5, 2021 marked the second anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 and it was the day when democracy took the ugly shape. On August 4, People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) described BJP’s ‘Naya Kashmir’ slogan as a ‘joke’ and said that the meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not at all fruitful. The alliance accused that none of the political prisoners has been released. The PAGD described the BJP’s Naya Kashmir slogan a hoax.
It is pertinent to mention that Srinagar’s iconic clock tower has been illuminated with the lights of the tricolor.
Srinagar Mayor Junaid Mattu informed in a tweet that Lal Chowk of J&K’s Srinagar has been illuminated in Tricolour and new clocks have been fitted.
Also he congratulated the Srinagar Municipal Corporation for doing the job well.
